[FAQ] Does it show historical data?

Sometimes, we are asked if Independent Analytics includes historical data, such as from when the site was first launched.

Independent Analytics is only able to record data starting with its own installation. WordPress doesn’t have any kind of analytics tracking built in for Independent Analytics to read. The entire tracking system was developed in Independent Analytics. This is part of what makes it effective as a privacy-friendly analytics solution; your data is created and stored entirely on your own server.

In conclusion, Independent Analytics starts recording data from the moment it’s installed, but cannot report on any activity on your site from before then.
