I got an email from WordPress saying that the system caught a fatal error caused by the web stories plugin. The error was caught at myURL.com/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php (not my real URL, it’s a placeholder).

There are visible issues in the dashboard when logged in. No current issues in incognito mode/not logged in. However, I got burned by another plugin that caused the same issue last week, so I did disable the web stories plugin at this time.

I love the plugin in general, so I’d love to get it working and playing nicely with everything else again. I appreciate any help I can get.

Here are the error details, with my URL and database information edited for privacy.

Hi @kimberlycstarr thanks for getting in touch and the detailed explanation of your issue. You mentioned that you disabled Web Stories because another plugin caused an issue for you. Could I please ask what that plugin is?

It would also be great if you could share the following:

    1. Your Site Health information which you can share via this private form.
    2. You mentioned that you had no issues in an Incognito window. Is this while you had the Web Stories and conflicting plugin both active on your site?
    3. Do you see any console errors when trying to access Web Stories?

Let me know if you have any questions on the above.

I disabled web stories because it was causing problems – the other plugins on my site are working fine together. It’s only when I add web stories back in that things figuratively explode.

Site health sent via the form.

There weren’t any publicly visible issues with the plugin – that’s what I meant about incognito. All visible issues only happen when I’m logged into the site.

I’ve not seen any console errors when trying to access web stories while the plugin was active.

The plugin is still deactivated at this time out of an abundance of caution, as another plugin had thrown me a similar error before taking my site down totally (thankfully it was restored quickly).

@kimberlycstarr thanks for the further information. We have just released the latest version of Web Stories(1.21.0) so if possible could you please re-activate the Web Stories plugin and update to the latest version. Once activate on the latest version could you please let me know if you get the same warning you have reported?

I’m re-enabling the plugin now. There are no immediate issues, but I’ll keep this tab open in my browser just in case things take a turn in any other direction.
