• Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘../wp-load.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php’) in /homepages/29/d271989311/htdocs/wp-admin/install.php on line 18

That’s when I get to the /wp-admin/install part of the installation. I’ve re-done it three times, tried an older version and double and triple checked all my database info. Any suggestions?

  • Does the wp-load.php file exist in your root WordPress directory?

    It does.

Have you spoken to your hosting provider? It’s possible that there’s a server config problem.

    I have not.

It is 1 and 1 and the last time I called them it took two hours and they did not even come close to resolving the issue. Would setting up a fresh DB be a way around contacting the never ending hell that is 1and1 customer service?

What type of hosting account do you have? Is three an option to auto-install a “1&1 Blog” (which is actually just WordPress)?

    Why yes there is.

    I never noticed that before.

The 1&1 install seemed to work fine. What administrative differences will there be? Will all my files still be accessible via ftp?

There are no differences as far as I am aware. You can still access your blog via FTP and use the Admin area as normal.

eh…The blog is set up through 1&1 but my ftp account for that website shows nothing there.
