Fatal error: Call to undefined function register_setting()

    Hello I’d like a little help from you guys if possible.

    So, I own a webshop which recently gives me this error line (popped up today):
    Fatal error: Call to undefined function register_setting() in /home4/enzim/public_html/deezgrillz.com/wp-content/plugins/preferred-languages/inc/functions.php on line 9

    What I tried is to rename the preferred-languages plugin (which I did not even install!) folder in cPanel. The site came back but the whole thing was broken.
    I’m no expert at coding unfortunately. I checked that file on line 9 but didn’t see anything wrong (Once again, I don’t know coding)

    I’m kind of confused because I didn’t install this plugin but cPanel shows it had an update today, I guess that’s where the whole thing broke. I hope it doesn’t have anything to do with wordpress update (which I disabled because the older version is the one that is working perfectly with my theme)

    Could someone please help me with fixing this problem?

    The last update to that plugin was two months ago! Also, it does not seem to be widely used. Do you mean you just updated WordPress today?

    I recommend asking at https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/plugin/preferred-languages#new-post so the plugin’s / theme’s developers and support community can help you with this.

    First off, thank you for answering.

    I did not update wordpress, nor install that plugin.
    I just saw in cPanel, the plugin was updated today.

    I tried to rename the plugin like a minute ago to disable it and to log into wordpress in wp-admin but it said wrong username or password :S

    That’s two different things. This article lists 7 completely different ways to reset your password. Any one of them will work and do the job. Find the one that’s right for you and use that: https://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Resetting_Your_Password

    Then you should speak to your host as they may be trying to be “helpful” somehow.
