Hi,
Are you sure it’s called ‘vscf_sanitize_text_field’?
I did have ‘vscf_sanitize_text_area’ but I’ve removed this in current version and replaced it with strip_tags.
So did you update whole plugin already? It seems you have replaced a part of the plugin files.
About the translation, this should work (did test it with my own language few moments ago). I can take a look at your website, but then you should contact me via my website and send me temp login.

Hi Guido,
You’re so right, I made a cock-up of the installation! Deleted the plugin and re-installed it – and now the translation works and the error message disappeared.
BUT now it won’t send the email to me 🙁 though I only have the code [contact] on the page, and my email address is correctly listed under settings, general.

Hi,
But you did receive the message before? I did not change anything of that part of the plugin.
Did you enter a ‘normal’ looking email address to test the form? Because some hostingproviders block messages with strange looking email address.

Hmmm, no never received any mails, and tested the form with my own working email address. I just tried installing Contact Form 7, doesn’t work either. Have contacted the hosting provider regarding php mail function, I have a feeling this is were the problem lies.
Again, thank you so much for your kind help!
Lo and behold! The problem was at the hosting provider – received help from them (had to install Easy WP SMTP) and now all is working 🙂
