I authorized WPBD to link to my Dropbox account. I clicked the Continue button and was able to customize my backup settings. Then I logged out of Dropbox. I went to change my backup settings, clicked to save changes, and got this message:

There was a fatal error loading WordPress Backup to Dropbox. Please fix the problems listed and reload the page.

If the problem persists please re-install WordPress Backup to Dropbox.

Error message: Error Processing Request: Couldn’t resolve host ‘api.dropbox.com’

I’ve seen this error several times. It always seems to happen when I’ve logged out of Dropbox. Are there settings that would enable the plugin to stay linked even when I’m not logged into Dropbox? Otherwise, I’m only able to successfully complete manual backups. Automated backups always fail.

    Gday mate,

You do not have to be logged into Dropbox in order for the backup to complete. OAuth takes care of this.

That error is usually means that your host cannot make a secure connection to the Dropbox API server.

Please ensure that you have openSSL or similar installed on your host.

    Cheers,

    Mikey,

Thanks for the post. My hosting provider confirmed that it has OpenSSL installed. I’m troubleshooting whether it’s an issue with the Dropbox API or my server settings.

When I first installed WPBD v1.4.5, the automated backup ran successfully the first couple weeks. I started to see this problem once I updated to your latest version. So I’m trying to find out if there’s a conflict between WPBD and my settings. I’m pretty new to troubleshooting server issues so it’s taking a while to figure out how to fix this.

    Dear,

I still get trouble the same above.

So Can I still use to this plugin when my host don’t have SSL installation? if true so how?

    Thank for help
