Hi, I have been using Jetpack for more than 5 years and I never had a problem with it until the previous month. One day, suddenly, my website went down without a reason and the only way of saving it was deactivating Jetpack and Jetpack Boost. I thought it may was an update issue (although it had no update at that time, the crash happened quite randomly) and I waited for a couple of weeks for the next update. Last week, when I updated both plugins I tried again to reactivate it, but it shows me the message of “fatal error” when I try to. So, I decided to delete it… And I can’t! It also gives me an error. How can I solve this?

depending on how your hosting is organised, use a file manager to delete the /plugins/jetpack directory. WordPress will disable the plugin automatically.

Hey @nazamo – As @nikdow mentioned, please log in to your site via FTP or SFTP or cPanel > File Manager and go to the wp-content/plugins/ folder and delete the folder named jetpack.

    • If you are not sure how to log in to the site via FTP or SFTP or cPanel > File Manager, I would recommend approaching your hosting provider and they will help you log in.

Once done, reinstall the Jetpack plugin from WordPress Admin > Plugins > Add New, and reconnect Jetpack.

Let me know how it went!

    Hi there, @nazamo,

Do you have updates about that, do you still need help? We usually close inactive threads after one week of no movement, but we want to make sure we’re all set before marking it as solved. Thanks!

    Hi, sorry for the delay.

I have sucessfully removed the plugin. But, when I reinstalled it, the moment I try to activate it the fatal error shows again.

    Hi there, @nazamo,

Sorry to hear you still have problems with that. Have you figure out what is the last version of the plugin that remains stable with your site without crashing it?

This may help us pinpoint the root of the problem. Are you also able to get the error logs for the fatal error? If so, you can share them via this contact form so we can take a closer look at that. If you use the contact form, please mention this thread so we can connect the dots 🙂
