First off I’m hosted on SiteGround and the site that’s having issues is a separate WordPress installation with Wordfence installed within a subdirectory of this site.

I tried to configure the application firewall but it failed stating that it couldn’t make the necessary changes. So I disabled the application firewall hoping to tackle the issue. Unfortunately, now when I try to create a new post on this site, I get this error:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 8011688668523755448 bytes in ....wp-includes/class-wp-editor.php on line 190

The rest of the site is seems fine and I am able to create new posts once I disable the Wordfence Plugin.

    Hi,

The “Allowed memory size” error means that your site is trying to use more memory than your host allows. Usually the amount you have (268435456 or 256M) is enough for most websites.

The amount it says it’s trying to use is “8011688668523755448”, which is not normal at all! I’d recommend turning off all plugins and checking if you can edit again. If it works, turn on one plugin at a time, and check the editor, to see which one stops it from working.

I haven’t heard of similar issues since the update, but if turning Wordfence on causes the error again, it might be a conflict with another plugin. If that’s the case, we’ll need to know which other plugins you’re using. (You can also turn on Wordfence first, and see which other plugin causes the same error to occur.)

    Matt:

Thanks for getting back to me. I disabled Yoast SEO and everything loaded without a hitch.

    Hope that helps!
