Fatal Error While Downloading WordPress Importer

Just had to create a new database and am attempting to load old posts up. I keep getting the following error when I try to get the importer for WordPress content:

Fatal error: Class ‘WP_Filesystem_direct’ not found in /ROOT FILE/wp-admin/includes/file.php on line 804

I’m not all that computer savvy, so any help would be appreciated. Especially since I’d like to get my stuff public again ASAP. Be gentle.
