FB juice?

I’m using EPS 301 to set up a pile of redirects – I’ve basically merged an existing site into a new one. It’s the first time I’ve done this so I have a couple of question.

1. What I’m noticing is that the redirects are working, which is great, but I thought the SEO juice would also be transferred over, along with Facebook likes, etc. That doesn’t seem to be happening, at least not the FB likes part. Am I missing something here, or were my expectations mistaken?

2. I’m not sure whether I should go ahead delete the posts/site after setting up the redirects (I’m going to set up a 301 for the homepage via my host and also notify Google Webmaster Tools).
