You will bypass the frontend block rules if you were signed in. In other words, you are able to browse frontend page with no restriction.

Hi ip2location – thanks for the reply.
Does that apply for all roles?
As per my response here:

I wonder whether the strange behavior I am seeing is because I am developing on a local PC. I’ll do some testing in a staging environment. Thanks again for your response 🙂

Confirmed this is an issue due to developing on local PC; not sure why but everything functions as expected on live site.
Hi,
Can you go “IP Query” tab in the plugin and let me know the IP detected in your local PC. Also, can you share the screenshot of your frontend settings page?

Hi ip2location – the IP address is a fe80:: address assigned by my router.
I can’t paste a screenshot but my Front End settings are:
—
Enable Frontend Blocking: selected
Block all countries except countries listed below: Afghanistan
Show the following page when visitor is blocked: Custom Error Page (Not Available in your Country)
—
When you said:

did you mean “signed in as Administrator” only? I tried logging in as a Subscriber on a live site but was blocked. This is why I would like to be able to override the blocking functionality based on selected roles 🙂
@jlev00 Noted. We will add this feature in coming release.
