Here is the issue I’m looking at explained: http://kb.mailchimp.com/mobile/campaign-behavior-on-mobile
Our responsive templates will not constrain images that are not in an Image, Image Group, Image Card, or Image + Caption content block. Large images that are added to a text block may stretch your layout when viewed on mobile.
Some of this may depend on your mobile email setup–I use a drag and drop template as well, and everything seems OK on my phone, but I’m sure it does vary from one email client to the next.
There isn’t a way to handle this differently within MailChimp, I don’t think, because their special image handling blocks won’t handle RSS content, it looks to me.
One thing I can look into is just removing the width declaration entirely from the plugin output, and/or tweaking a bit of inline styling, and see if that resolves the issue for you. If I make the changes needed, would you be willing to help check that with me? It would be just one plugin file, but you would need to swap it out using FTP. I would be testing it on my sites as well, but since you’re experiencing the issue more specifically, your input would be helpful. Just let me know–
Sure, I’d be happy to test it. I very much appreciate the help. I shouldn’t obsess over such things, but I have a number of mobile users and it really bugs me when the emails get horizontal scrolling…
You know what? I take it back. I was getting horizontal scrolling in the test emails I was sending when I used my new templates, but I just pulled up my actual email to review it and the thing works as expect. Oy. So I think we’re good at this point. Sorry to have bothered you.
I’m glad to hear it’s working! No worries, and thank you for letting me know–I appreciate it!
