• Using the Sela theme is great and I am sure is useful for Automattic in promoting Jetpack.

A couple things that could make it better:

    • Please add an option to the Customize section of the Testimonials to allow the administrator to select how to order the testimonials on the Front Page
    • Please add a clearer description in the theme description that Jetpack is required to access a lot of the features that the theme uses

I think these additions would be really helpful to people using this theme. I was unfamiliar with the Jetpack plugin, and installing it as part of this theme has provided me with an opportunity to use a lot of its features. You should definitely promote it more explicitly in the theme’s description, not just in the support forum and readme text.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

I totally agree that it should be more obvious that Jetpack is needed to take advantage of certain Sela features, like site logo and testimonials. We are currently limited in where we are able to mention that, and we’re eagerly looking forward to some improvements to the theme showcase that will allow us to do just that.

Please add an option to the Customize section of the Testimonials to allow the administrator to select how to order the testimonials on the Front Page

There is currently a way to select which testimonials – which are a standard WordPress custom post type – are displayed on the front page. Add a number to the Order field within each testimonial post, starting with 0:

Edit Testimonial Sela 1 0 4 by Automattic WordPress

The testimonials with the lowest two numbers will be displayed on your front page, using the Front Page template.

For example, if you have five testimonials, add the number 0 and 1 to the two that you’d like to appear on the homepage. Make sure the other three testimonials have the number 2 or higher.

I realize this isn’t intuitive, and we are looking at ways to improve this in future iterations of the theme, but for now, this should do the trick – let me know if you have any trouble with it.
