Hello, I have the free version of NextGen Gallery and I am looking to add a featured image to my posts via the NextGen interface. I looked at the instructions but the feature does not seem to be in the free version. Is this correct? Do I need to get the paid version in order to utilise this feature?
    Thanks

@mgrist – The featured image option is available with NextGEN Gallery as is. You should see something along these lines on your edit screen for posts and pages (provided your theme is adding support for featured images) … http://take.ms/6Yxbn

    Thanks!

Thanks Photocrati. I looked further but I do not see this option on existing posts. I noticed it is available on new posts. What do you suggest for existing posts … Deleting and recreating them??

I’m tacking on a related question. I have the NextGEN Pro plugin, but I am not aware of having an account (my email is not recognized). Using the Pro Grid Album, which is a collection of galleries… why does not the first image in the gallery display in the Album Grid (be the featured image if I’m using correct terminology)? It seems to pick an arbitrary image to display.

I think I found the answer to my own question. Delete the current featured image, SAVE the post (necessary step), and then the NextGen featured image option appears. 🙂
