featured image also being placed into post | ww.wp.xz.cn

When i select the featured image as an option.
its says “the first attached image will be the featured image”

It does place it as the featured image, but it also places the same image into the post.

Is there a way of stopping this.

Currently there is not. It is on the list of features to add.

Not really. Doing this is more or less a complete rewrite of the attachment handling logic.

Postie 1.7.6 now allows you to include/exclude the featured image in the post. Check out the Postie settings Image tab.
