Featured Image / Code Showing on Page

I have 2 issues:
How can I make the featured images of my blogs small thumbnails that are shown to the side of the summary of the article that are on the front page? Instead of them being large and on top of the text.
In the top right hand corner of my home page, it shows <span>Social</span> Instead of just the regular Social part (not formatted either). How can I remove that? Also, same problem on the Facebook widget on the right sidebar on the home page, where it shows “<span>3 Wise Men Finance</span>”?
