One follow-up. I was only looking in Posts, but just went to Pages and it’s present there. Is it only made to appear in Pages?
oh wow, thats a great question, I’ve been trying to re-create the issue but maybe the problem is only present on blog posts. let me do some digging into that and get back to you.
It looks like its working to me, I didn’t really have any issues (except it took me a while to update all my themes and plugins on my dev website). Feel free to look yourself:

Seth. Thanks for looking into it. Just to be sure, I noticed that at least on the first one, you used the thumbnail attribute in the shortcode to generate the image in the page.
thumbnail=”/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/batman_banner-500×150.jpg”
In your Post (maybe the second gallery?), were you able to add the gallery up using the Featured Image Widget as shown here http://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/sm-gallery/screenshot-2.png
I did wonder if thats what you were referring to, but you referenced the shortcode…
No, the featured image gallery does not work on Post objects. I don’t remember exactly why we did it that way but I remember having some issue with blog posts and the featured image meta box options. For now I’ll just have to say that its not a feature of the product to use that on Posts, only on pages.

Ah, gotcha! Thanks for the follow-up and explanation and sorry if I was unclear at first. It is a great Plugin still and one that I’ll almost certainly use on some projects. Unfortunately, on the project I’m planning on using something like this on right now, the site contributors aren’t savvy enough to use shortcodes and need something more simple like adding it through the Featured Image area and attaching it there.
Maybe that’s something that can be added in a future update if possible.
Also, on a different note, I don’t know if you’ve had much call for an addition to the Plugin like this, but the company I’m working on at the moment is wanting the ability to input small banner ads into the top area of the pop-up. It would be cool to have the ability to add a little JavaScript code that would display a banner centered above the main image.
Thanks again for your time and a really great Plugin.
You are very welcome. Additional features are typically only added as paid for, either by crowdsourcing or individual donations. Customizations can be created in code submitted for review OR you can request a quote to have the work done:
