    Hi WPForms team,

I’m developing a plugin that integrates with form builders and was testing with WPForms free version. I hit the new “Hey, I noticed you wanted to create a form…” pop-up.

Frankly, it’s a major UX misstep. It’s Windows’ “Clippy” in WordPress—intrusive, unrequested, and disruptive to workflow. For a plugin about streamlining forms, this adds friction instead of reducing it.

This also touches a bigger issue many of us face: plugin fatigue. We can’t buy a Pro license for every tool. When free versions use disruptive patterns like this, it feels less like a valuable tool and more like an aggressive funnel for pro. It trains us to avoid plugins that don’t respect our workflow, regardless of their paid features. You’re not the only Independent Software Vender (ISV) using the pro funnel tactics on WordPress. Now imagine five other ISVs using the same tactics on your site’s admins, especially in the non-profit arena. It can come across as punishment for being poor.

A suggestion: please make this pop-up permanently dismissible or better yet, remove it. The best upgrade incentive is a free version that’s so genuinely useful and respectful that we want to support you for the extras. Not one that makes us feel pushed.

    Thanks for considering this feedback.

    Chris

    Hi Chris,

Thank you for writing in and sharing such candid and detailed feedback.

I want to sincerely apologize for the disruption this pop-up caused to your workflow. I completely understand how an interruption like that can be frustrating, especially when you are focused on development.

I have forwarded your feedback to our product team for review. We take user experience very seriously, and insights like yours are vital in helping us recognize where we need to improve.

Thank you again for taking the time to provide feedback about WPForms, and for giving us the opportunity to improve.
