    Hi ,
I get the following error when I try to generate thumbnail :
    FFMPEG not found .
And In settings when I save changes – it comes up with “FFMPEG not found at /usr/local/bin/. You can embed existing videos, but video thumbnail generation and Mobile/HTML5 video encoding is not possible without FFMPEG.”

Please advice , I really need this option to generate thumbnails , without inserting featured image

Do you know that you have FFMPEG installed on your server? Most servers do not have FFMPEG.

Im not sure if there is !!!
Using Godaddy . Is there anyway to find out if there is FFMPEG ?
And if there isn’t is there any alternative ?

Unfortunately FFMPEG is the best option I’ve found. It’s not easy to use and it takes up too many system resources for most shared hosting plans, but it works. I know that Dreamhost offers FFMPEG on their shared hosting plans.

@kyle your making me cry , I was just in love with the plugin features.
My client has already purchased with godaddy and Im sure they wont be willing to transfer hosts so soon.

I know this is outside the support of your plugin : But do you know of anyway I could just add a default thumbnail for all video posts ?

Yes. There’s an option called “Poster Image” in the plugin settings to do that. Just put the image URL in there and it will set the thumbnail for all your videos.

I really love this plugin. If this works on GoDaddy, then I can save a whole lot of time, which I spend to generate thumbnails to my video blog.

FFMPEG is not available on Godaddy shared hosting accounts. http://support.godaddy.com/groups/web-hosting/forum/topic/ffmpeg/

is there any way of manually installing FFMPEG via FTP? If so, where would I find the download for it and is there anything I need to do other than put the files on the server?

FFMPEG must be compiled and installed like any other software running on a server. It also requires a number of different libraries, which have to be installed before FFMPEG is compiled. Most hosting services will not allow you to do any of this, but if you have a VPS or dedicated server, ffmpeg.org has a number of guides for installation. If you’re running CentOS or similar, this one is good: https://ffmpeg.org/trac/ffmpeg/wiki/CentosCompilationGuide
