After updating CF7 to v5.2 none of my forms execute the shortcode for the honeypot field any more. The change was permanent too – restoring CF7 to the previous version did not make them work again, so I’ve had to remove them from all my forms. Any idea what might have happened there?

FYI, I am also using (among many other plugins!):
    Contact Form 7 Conditional Fields
    Contact Form DB (fork)

    Thanks.

  • I think I am having the same problem. Prior to the update when I looked in my Contact Forms (those submitted) all of the forms had the honeypot field in the list of fields, but with no value. After the update, the field is no longer showing up on the Contact Forms, regardless of whether it was a manual or bot submission. I am presuming that the honeypot is no longer working, but would like some confirmation.

Hi @wwwolf – apologies for the slow response. I’m running CF7 Honeypot on the latest version of CF7 and there appear to be no problems rendering the shortcode. Are you sure you have the shortcode syntax right, or maybe is there another plugin that is preventing it. Also, just to confirm, you’re using the most recent version of the Honeypot plugin, right?

@larryw18 — your issue is a bit different than the OP. As of v1.14, the plugin now has a “do not store” flag so that the field is not stored in things like Flamingo or Contact Form DB (I believe). As a form should never submit with the honeypot field containing a value, there should be no use-case where the field should need being stored. More details about the change here: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/do-not-store-honeypot-empty-value-in-flamingo/
