File attachment only works within Admin
-
File attachments to e-mail are not working. I have read “https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/file-attachments-not-working-in-contact-form-7/” and “https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/contact-form7-not-delivering-attachments/”. I set up my form accordingly.
File attachment works from within my Admin portal. However, it does not work for a customer who volunteered to test the form using the same file. That is:
- When I am logged into the site; attach a photo in the form; and Submit–I get the e-mail with the attachment.
- When my tester goes to the site without logging in; attaches the same photo to the form; and submits–I get the e-mail without the attachment.
I found a clue in the plugin documentation (https://contactform7.com/file-uploading-and-attachment/). This mentions that the parent for the temporary folder used to hold the attachment has to be writable. But that advice may not be specific enough. My folder is writable for the “Owner,” but not for a “Group” or “Public.”
Could this be the problem? If so, what write permissions must be granted?
Thank you,

to be writeable means you must give the permission to the http user of apache (755)

Okay, thanks. It appears to have the perms:
drwxr-xr-x (0755)
and who is the owner/group?
Apparently only the webhost admins can access that info, *but* you led me to the solution. In talking with Dreamhost support about this, they said the 0755 might have to be set to 0775 for some apps to write to the folder. They did that, and it worked! Thank you very much for your help.
