Glad to help.
Error code 7 has to do with remote file paths. Can you let me know the URL you are entering when adding the file? Note: when sharing any URLs/paths publicly, please replace the actual domain name with “example.com” to conserve privacy. For example:
https://example.com/some/path/to/whatever.file
That will enable me to take a closer look and try to help asap, thank you.
Hi Jeff,
Thank you for your response
The file which is located on the resources website should have this URL/path
https://resources.example.org/wp-content/uploads/samplefile.pdf
The main website’s URL is https://example.org/
Okay thanks, I will investigate and try to repeat the issue on default WP install.
In the meantime, do you know if other file URLs/paths have the same issue on your site, or is it only those from the subdomain?
Hi Jeff
Thank you for that
I’ve tried adding in links from Google Drive and from another website and they all work.
Only the files from the subdomain show the error
Okay thanks for the information. It sounds like an issue with images hosted on a subdomain. I will investigate further and try to resolve for the next plugin update.
Thanks for that Jeff.
Hope to hear more from you soon.
Hi Jeff,
Hope you are well.
Would really appreciate an update on this.
Thank you.
Hi @debbielatonio, as explained previously, it’s in the queue for the next plugin update, which is planned for WordPress 6.7 this fall. Due to work schedule, won’t be able to get to it before then. Thank you for your patience.
Hi @debbielatonio,
Thanks for your patience.
I’ve been testing adding files from subdomains but so far have been unable to repeat the issue of default WordPress. I am able to add/track files from subdomains normally. So at this time there is not much I can do other than try to help troubleshoot and figure out what might be happening in your specific case. Here are some things to check..
Do you know if there are any other plugins on site that may be interfering/involved somehow? Also have you tried uploading other file types, to see if it’s just an issue with PDF files? Also are you sure that the subdomain in question does not have any server/config rules in place that would prevent external file download requests? Also, the site’s error log may contain related information about what is happening on the server when the download requests are made.
Just thinking out loud here, maybe something will click.
Let me know how I can help, thank you.
Hi @debbielatonio, just wanted to follow up with this. It’s been a while with no reply, so I hope the issue is resolved? Or if there is anything I can do to help, please let me know. Thank you.
