After upgrade to version 3.8.7.1 I get reports from users that they cannot download some (not all) of the mp3 and mid files we have.

Error:
Memphis Documents Error: 05. Beautiful Day – Bas.mp3 was not found, please contact the owner for assistance.

Replicated in FF, IE en Chrome. Checking the server from cPanel filemanager, I can no longer find the files. When I upload the files again, I have duplicates (so it looks like the old file was there after all).

The options File system cleanup and Find lost files, both give no errors, nothing to bo fixed. So while the file can’t be downloaded, it looks like it is still on the server. And when uploading new version both old and new version are visible again.

it sounds, like your database has been corrupted somehow? Did you make a backup before you upgraded? You best option is to roll back you DB to its working state.

We’re using one.com for hosting.

No I didn’t upgrade myself, so there’s no backup.

can you confirm the missing files are still in the uploads/mdocs folder?

Can confirm the files were deleted. After uploading them again I only see one version.

It appears random: some files were, others weren’t deleted.

No. I checked with the other admin who upgraded Mdocs. She did nothing else than upgrade.

I’m at a lose as to why the lasted update would delete file. The update has no file db or folder changes. It had minor changes to spelling and removal of used constants.

Just keep an eye on things and make sure normal users have access to the file manageable area.
