This is also exactly what I’m looking for. But I don’t think it’s possible with this plug-in. In fact, this plug-in is not that good. Just bought it last night and it’s not simple to use at all, no documentation, no responses yet to my qns, etc. Not looking good.

I’m using WordPress meta data and taxonomies filter.
It can work with nimble portfolio as well.

Thanks so much Keitchu. Does this plug-in allow you to filter portfolio category ITEMS though? What I am trying to do is set up 4-6 dropdown filters on the page itself (not sidebar; well, maybe later also) that would contain the categories to which each individual item would be tagged. So for example, if one item is Museum of Seville, then it would be tagged to the categories “Museum” (as type of historical place), “Seville” (as province) and “Andalusia” (as region). And so on for dozens or hundreds of portfolio items. I don’t know if your plug-in is only for posts?
I’m a bit lost after 4-5 days exploring this…. going nuts…

this is the only plug-in that I’ve found that does it, but it’s not available for WP yet (another 2 months says the author).

Yes it can be done, they are using shortcodes so you can place the filters anywhere. And it can filter even the Nimble portfolio categories. You can also create meta data and use them as filters as well.

I have property types, district area which is same concept as your “categories”
I have looked through many sites, i would say this should be the best bet. Go and watch their youtube video if you are still unsure or post a pre-sales question at Code Canyon and the author will answer you.
