• Hello,

Since the major update, I read so many bad comments, issues, bugs, errors, etc. Some users lost patience and switched to other another plugin. I decided to stay with my stable version 2.3.5 as 1) I’ve been using this plugin for years without a complaint and 2) I didn’t want to take any risks vs. my ranking…

But today I am wondering: is it the good time to finally and safely update this plugin? Should I wait more? Or should I just give a try to another SEO plugin…? What do you guys think?

    Thank you!

  • It’s working fine for me. But I don’t have any weird combination of themes with overt SEO panels that cannot be switched off, other plugins that try to rewrite the page at same time, or CDN/optimization plugin that breaks various plugins by munching the javascript …

Like anything these days, including WordPress Core, you need to
    a) make backup
    b) keep copies of prior plugin/installers/zips
    c) make dbase backup before ANY major system update

Try new plugin, test; if it breaks, roll back to prior backup.

No plugin will work 100% with all sites and set-ups, due to the way so many plugins these days hook into and mess with the “code” and sometimes break it, including not using custom unique classes for styles, ajax ID, etc.

But working on all my sites just fine.

I did decide to wait for updating it on my ecommerce site, though, for one more dot revision. But for our news sites, it’s all working just fine now after the inevitable dot revisions to a major Yoast full release. 🙂

Update – yes, just updated on my ecom site today; working a-okay. 🙂
