Finding missing backup files
-
Hi, I’m trying to find the missing backup files after using the Backup & Migration plugin for the WordPress site.
I only have half a link –

What exactly do you need?
Here are the errors:

When I backed up our client’s site (www.wildconnection.co.za) I received notification that a zip file (BM_Backup_2022-08-19_12_38_12_Vl4abzP8wU6CZxor) had been created. However, I can’t restore that file.
In the meantime, the service provider reset the DNS server and the website vanished, and with it the back up file I presume?
Hi @andrewswish
My huge apologies for delayed reply, we’re intensively working on new version, which causes some delays in free support there.
If that server is still online, you should be able to access the website directly via its IP address. That would allow you to download or find the backup file. It should be possible for your client to find IP of that server in his hosting dashboard.
Nevertheless, Super-Quick Migration can work only while both sites are online at the same time and our plugin is enabled too.
In such case if you can access the server via IP directly, you can make new backup if needed too, then you can use Super-Quick Migration when you replace domain name with IP of that server (also change https to http).
If you can describe more what you can do at this moment in order to access old website/server (maybe even FTP), let me know. You can also download the backup via FTP or cPanel File Manager, then upload it manually in order to restore it on new site.

Hi @wrsenter
Seems like you have some binary-broken files, we can’t read and store them in ZIP.
For such cases, we have prepared different backup method which will automatically detect such files and exclude them dynamically. Please open first section of the plugin named: “What will be backed up?”
Find subsection named: “Exclude by folder / file name (case-sensitive)”
Here add these three rules, like on image: https://prnt.sc/9oftADPd_Z7eOnce you do that, please follow these steps:
- Go to “Other options” section
- Change backup method: https://prnt.sc/1s1ofpa
- Disable PHP CLI checking: https://prnt.sc/1sljr31
- Save “Other options” section
- Force stop both processes: https://prnt.sc/1trv1tm
When you do that, try to run your backup once again.
If that won’t work it may mean you don’t have enough space to make the backup.
Even if it says that there is enough, it may not be true.
Some host providers, shared or cloud may display incorrect value.Let me know if that worked for you 🙂
Thank you!As we didn’t hear any reply in last days.
I can assume that you resolved the issue.Feel free to open new topic if I am wrong!
Thank you 🙂
