    Hey Frank,

GeneratePress has a mobile.css file which has a media query within it.

When using Autoptimize with Firefox Quantum on mobile, it’s like the media query is being completely ignored. You can see this on the demo site I linked to. Check the main menu vs. using Chrome.

When I disable Autoptimize, the issue goes away.

Any ideas what’s going on? Something that needs to be tweaked in the theme possibly?

Here’s a link to the original topic where it was reported to me: https://generatepress.com/forums/topic/problems-with-mobile-view-ind-firefox-quantum/#post-428356

Thanks, and keep up the great work! πŸ™‚

well, to make things even more interesting; I just download FF Quantum (on Ubuntu and had not received update yet) and your demo-site looks perfect on desktop and mobile view, cfr. https://imgur.com/a/K6vQ2

I’ll see if I can get hold of a Windows machine later today πŸ™‚

I can only get it to happen when on my actual phone for what it’s worth – spent about 20 minutes trying to get it to happen on my Windows machine with no luck.

Perhaps Quantum is taking some shortcuts to increase speed on mobile.. I have no idea. Never seen anything like it.

Confirmed; I can reproduce this behavior on the demo-site on my smartphone (which had Quantum already). So the scope: GeneratePress + Autoptimize + Firefox Quantum Mobile … This is going to be fun πŸ˜‰

Can we experiment with the demo-site, or can you set up another instance where we can fiddle with settings & plugins & code snippets (to hook into AO’s API) to try to pinpoint the exact root cause?

Absolutely – I’ll get one set up today πŸ™‚

I set it up on a test server, but couldn’t reproduce the issue. However, like the original reporter, the issue goes away when I disable CSS optimization on the demo site. I’ll dig a little deeper and get back to you.

So it’s not generatepress core, but triggered by (one of) the premium add-ons or one of the non-GP plugins?

    Thread Starter Tom

    (@edge22)

Couldn’t get it to happen with all of the add-ons activated either. There’s also nothing within the add-ons I can think of that would alter how files are enqueued.

I’ll duplicate the demo site and will pick it apart bit by bit – I’ll get back to you once I have a clearer picture of what’s going on – don’t want to waste your time.

Thanks for being so responsive πŸ™‚

    no news yet @edge22 ?

None yet – been busy with getting GP 2.0 ready for release (no more jQuery!).

You can find the latest here: https://generatepress.com/forums/topic/problems-with-mobile-view-ind-firefox-quantum/#post-431167

Hoping to take a closer look at their staging site as soon as it’s up.

Looks like GP 2.0 fixed it (not sure how!?): https://generatepress.com/forums/topic/problems-with-mobile-view-ind-firefox-quantum/page/2/#post-445979

Glad you didn’t waste too much time on it.

Keep up the great work – I’m a fan πŸ™‚
