• I just ran the upgrade to the latest wf on a client site and it asked me to configure the firewall settings.

It has thrown up that the current auto_prepend_file setting is to include /tmp/pre.php and keeping this setting seems like a very bad idea to me. The site is on shared cloud hosting.

Anyway, I’m asking for your advice as the plugin suggests.

    Thanks, John

  • Hi,

I have got the same message on trying to configure the firewall settings.

‘The auto_prepend_file PHP setting is currently in use, and is including this file:
    /tmp/pre.php’

I don’t recognise the file, so am not sure if I should proceed to the next step.

The site is hosted on a shared cloud hosting account.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Amanda

    Hi all

I have the same issue. Like BrockleyJohn, I feel that /tmp/pre.php looks like something to get rid of, but I am not 100% sure.

Any advice would b much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Keith

Maybe raise the issue with your web host and find out what they are using the /tmp/pre.php file for?

In the end I raised the question with the web hosting service for the site (TSOHost) and they said I should proceed by including the file without overwriting the php configuration. So I went with the “Include this file (recomended)” option and it worked to configure the firewall for me.

    Update:

In this case, I don’t think it was a general setting in the hosting as it hasn’t come up for any of the other clients’ sites.

The file in question didn’t actually exist (I wrote a couple of lines of php to echo the contents), so I decided to override it and everything has worked fine.

    Update:

    Thank you for the advice.

I also had a look at /tmp/pre.php and it didn’t exist on my config either. Then I noticed that LittleBirdWeb is also using TSOHost, so was intending to following their advice.

However, the firewall install process has been amended and I no longer get the option. The firewall is now detecting the server configuration more accurately. i went with the suggested configuration. My site is now working ok with the firewall active.
