    Hi,

Today I wanted to test whether the firewall was working. To do this, I went to Settings > Test BBQ Firewall > and clicked “Okay run the test”. It says:

This test opens a new tab. If the response is 403 Forbidden (HTTP Error 403), the firewall is working.

But in the new tab no 403 error page opens, but a blank white page. When I look at the source code of the page, it just says 1 Does this mean that the firewall is not working?

Thank you very much for a hint

    Glad to help.

Normally the response should be 403 Forbidden. If that is not happening, it could mean interference from another plugin or script. Best advice is to do some quick troubleshooting of your plugins and theme. I would be glad to provide a free guide if it might be useful for you.

    Hi Jeff @specialk,

thank you very much for your quick reply!
I have now done this. I have set each plugin to “deactivate” one after the other. (I have a total of 10 plugins installed, including BBQ and Blackhole for Bad Bots). Then I tested the firewall again and again. But the result was always the same: the white screen.
However, I have not yet dared to deactivate my theme (Generatepress). If there are any other possibilities, please let me know. Thanks a lot!

Another very useful thing to check is the site’s error log. Server logs include a wealth of information, and may help you to determine what is happening “behind the scenes”.

Ok, but how do I access the Server logs?

They’re located on your server. Ask your web host, they can help you find them.

Important: do not post a bunch of log entries here in the forum. Logs contain sensitive information about your site that should be kept private.
