There is a plug in I am using that is stopping my site from loading. All I get is a white blank screen. (the favicon loads and there is no error)

My host (Media Temple) helped me understand that if I rename the plugins folder, the site loads, but now I have to figure out what exactly is causing the problem. There are not really any special plugins that I need, so I am happy to just start fresh.

I tried changing the plugin folder name then installing Askimet as a test, but I get “Installation failed: Could not create directory.” when I try to install a new version of Askimet.

Thanks for any guidance on the issue,

    Henry

The “could not create a directory” error is related to bad folder permission/ownership

The permissions of the WP-content/plugin might be incorrect. The permission for that directory should be 755.
