Before updrading to v2.0, we had in our header 2 flags for English and Spanish without wording.
Today I upgraded the plugin to the 2.0 version. Everything seems to work OK but the flags are no shown anymore.

I’ve cleared all active cache, be it on WordPress or server or Cloudflare, I’ve regenerated CSS & Data in Elementor tools, and also tried to delete the language bar altogether in Elementor to recreate it, to no avail.
The language bar does show up and the space for the flag is created, just not showing the image.

In looking at the code, the following shows up where the flag should be.
    <span class="cpel-switcher__flag cpel-switcher__flag--es_GT"></span>
In looking at server logs (Apache), no error shows up, nor in the console in Chrome.

I’m sure there must be an easy fix, although I fail to see where.

Thanks in advance for any help on that issue.

  • Do you have used custom flags? I have renamed now the folder with the flags /wp-content/polylang/ folder to /wp-content/polylang-old/ and went to Languages > Settings. Click on the “URL modifications” settings and then on Save Changes. After that the new flags appeared on my site.

    Hi,
Thanks for the idea. That was it. We did use custom flags but I didn’t see them because I was looking in wp-content/plugins/polylang instead of wp-content/polylang…

Things are working fine now. Thanks. I’m still wondering why the custom flags are no longer working but we’re OK as is.
