Hi,
I think you are mixing the old meta keywords with one focus keyphrase. We have an excellent article on our Knowledge Base about the difference here: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/the-difference-between-focus-keywords-and-meta-keywords/
Having said this, you would optimize for one keyphrase without commas.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I’m aware the focus keywords are not the meta keywords. What’s not clear what is a focus keyword and a focus keyphrase.
My understanding is a focus keyword is like ‘sip trunk voIP system’. Actually these are 4 focus keywords.
My understanding is for a keyphrase ‘sip trunk’. So made up with two words.
My question is: can I enter both in the Yoast SEO focus keyphrase field?
Example: ‘sip trunk, sip, trunk, voIP system,’ So this would be 4 keywords, two of them a keyphrase. separate by a comma.
Will the plugin recognize them?
Thanks
Hi @fafa24
In the past, we used to call the focus keyphrase as the focus keyword. But, since the internet grew bigger, and more and more content is out there, it’s getting harder to rank on just one word.
In order to know how you can enter your focus keyphrase correctly, you may check this guide: https://yoast.com/academy/keyword-research-training/keyphrase-length/
