Folder Access Permissions

Hi Paul,

In cpanel, I can set a username & a password for a folder, what I need is to show a specific protected folder within wordpress, so that if showing inside wordpress it does not ask for the username and password, but if it is open directly it will still ask for credentials.

Is there anyway I can do this? If there is a change or addition in code, would you guide me how to do so? This would be much appreciated. If you could implement such a feature, this would be a great one and very helpful in protecting content.
