Hi Dedra, I’ve had the same issue, as have 2 other bloggers I know. It happened the first time on my post Aug 18, and on a subsequent post today. Like you, I located the IP addy and saw who the commenter was and filled in.
I also posted in this forum today, so will share if I get any responses,

Yes, it is! I’ve noticed it on several other blogs, as well. It’s so strange.
I’ve noticed, as well, that when I try to comment on some other wordpress blogs (who also appear to be having the ‘anonymous’ issue), I get an error message and my comment won’t post. I switched over to Chrome from Safari and finally got my comments to go through. So could it possibly be an issue with the new Safari update and WordPress??

Oh ok, thank you for keeping me in the loop! Every day there seems to be a new issue, which is so frustrating.
Is your blog self hosted? I seem to have no problems leaving comments on wordpress hosted blogs, but the self hosted ones seem to have the issues.
I think I just asked a stupid question. If you’re posting in this forum, my assumption is you are self-hosted. Sorry about that!

Hi,
For the last three days I’ve had comments from followers and regular commenters showing up as ‘anonymous’, with a few exceptions. I thought maybe it was just a glitch in that one post, but it’s still happening on my newest post, as well. I’ve been able to go in and search the comment by their IP address and edit the comment to show the correct author for those who have commented before, but I’m hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.
Generally, anytime I have problems with comments it’s usually traced back to my security or firewall. I use WP Security.
Any help would be appreciated!
