Hi, I’m currently using Sitka Solo Pine theme and I’ve been using the default fonts selected by theme.

Here is the sequence of events:

    1. One day out of the blue, all the header font changed from Monserrat to Times New Roman. I tweaked it in “Appearance” and changed the “variant” from regular to 300. Header font returned to normal state.
    2. Few weeks later, all the header font is bolded. Tweaked in “Appearance” with various fonts and variants. Header font remained as Monserrat font in bold.
    3. A week later, all the body font (which is Lora) are suddenly all bolded. Tweaked it many times and nothing changed.

Currently, the issue is the header font is Monserrat font in bold (it should be Monserrat regular) and the body font is Lora in bold (it should be Lora regular).

I’ve disabled the Autoptimize plugin, cleared the cache and the problem remains.

My questions are: did Autoptimize plugin change the configuration for displaying fonts? How do I remedy that?

    Thank you!

no, I don’t see how Autoptimize would cause this @queeniem as confirmed by the fact the problem remains when AO is not active any more. You do seem to also have Siteground Optimizer active, maybe something in there is going wrong (although it does not seem to touch CSS, only JS, so not likely)?

    Hi there,

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

I was using Autoptimize plugin when the problem occurred. I also realized I had Siteground Optimizer and a Jetpack Boost plugin. (Not sure if it was changing site over something but I see plugins that I didn’t think I downloaded).

Could having multiple optimising plugins cause a conflict and changed the site permanently? Sorry if I’m asking dumb questions but I’m not technical and I’ve been searching for answers for awhile and nothing came up. So how I can only narrow it down to fonts not embedding correctly.

based on what I see in the HTML, the problem lies within the kirki-inline-styles inline CSS @queeniem, which makes it .. doubtful that this is due to the optimization plugins (although it generally is not a good idea to “slap on” extra optimization plugins hoping things will automagically improve).

hard to say where to go next, but my -very performance-centric- advice would be to try to use as little webfonts as posssible really as these always to some extent have a negative perforamnce impact anyway?

Thank you for your observation. I’ll follow up with the team at Kirki. I suspect something is weird with the Kirki plugin since it wasn’t letting me activate.

I stayed with all the default fonts for my current theme. I tried to change as little as possible hoping that it won’t break my site lol. But I agree with you and thank you for the advice.
