Footer Editor
-
Hi guys.
I’ve pulled most of my hair out. I have a number of sites on WP and have never had this issue. I am using all the same plugins and themes but for some reason on one of my sites I cannot edit the footer. I need to put in some info on the footer but the ‘editor’ option isn’t there so when I try to use the link from one of my other sites (and replace the beginning) and it tells me:
You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.
This is annoying because I am paying for hosting and I should be able to do what I have done on ALL my other sites. So far I have tried:
1. starting a new project
2. copy the url ext
– You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.
3. use 3rd party plugins
4. change theme
5. Installed a bunch of plugins which historically I have had to use editor to use the plugin… no longer able to use plugins
6. called my mum and cried down the phone for 10 minutes.Anyone able to help me? The most annoying thing is that WP do not have a call center! WTF. Anyway, please help me.

I understand it is annoying.
Who is your host?
Have you discussed this issue with them?
Hey Tara,
Yeah I have, My host is 1and1 and they have ‘advised’ me to come here.
try resetting the plugins folder by FTP. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems. Also remember to deactivate any plugins in the mu-plugins folder (if you have created such folder). The easiest way is to rename that folder to mu-plugins-old.
See I had a similar thought and to test the hypothesis I opened a new website but now all new sites are not allowing me to go into editor.
You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.
Vishal I am not sure what else to suggest. This is not a WordPress core issue.
The error message you reported suggests some permission issue. your server host should be able to sort it out for you.
See they said the same from there end… I will try them again!
Ok. You my love, are a life saver. I called 1and1 and got through to someone who knew what they were doing. Simple fix. I set the site up in safe mode unlike my other sites. So I switched it over to Free Mode and asked 1and1 to do a diagnostic test and refresh. And now all is back to normal. I can access and edit my footer.php. safe mode protects people from getting to the coding on their site so they do not mess up the html coding. All done.
Thanks again.
You are welcome 🙂
