Footer question

    Hi all,

    I am using Mike Little’s Journalized Blue as a theme – http://zed1.com/journalized/ –

    My blog has multiple authors. Each post has a header which shows:

    “Posted by AUTOR” with a link to each author’s blog in the author’s posting handle in the header.

    I’m trying to figure out if it’s possible to have that same information placed at the bottom of each post above the tags – i.e., directly between the bottom of the post and the tags, sort of like:

    … this is the end of the post.

    Tags blah blahblah blahblahblah

    Journalized blue has no “footer.php” (if that is even important?), nor would I have any idea how to create it if it’s possible.

    Can this be done? If so, can somebody walk this relative “newbie” through the steps, please? With multiple authors onboard, I keep running into commenters being confused at who posted the article and it seems if I had both a header at the top (as I do now) and a footer with the author’s URL in it at the bottom, it might help clarify this.

    Right now, we are doing it manually, which is a real pain.

    I assume there is some kind of code in your index.php that displays the tags.
    Well, just above it, try to add the_author template tag – is you can see before the_content.

    Moshu, I’m sorry – forget about the tags – I add those manually. The important thing is to add the footer with the author’s name and URL link automatically at the bottom.

    When I read your response, I tried copying the header thing where I thought it would go in the index.php file but it totally scrambled the whole blog up. Apparently, you are light years ahead of me in your explanation of how to do it. My blog’s URL is guntotingliberal.com if that helps?

    See my modification on line 37:

    I put the tag in a p class, so you can go into your style.css and add that class to format it as you want, e.g.
    .bottomauthor {
    font: ....;
    }
    That should display automatically the post author’s name. If you have problems and I am not around click on my name and use the contact form.

    Moshu, thank you so much… this has helped greatly, and it works.

    Only thing missing is, how do I get it to display the clickable URL for the author’s name like I have in the header?

    Example –

    Aha. Then replace what is inside “my” p – /p with this:
    <?php if(get_the_author_url()) { ?> <a href="<? the_author_url();?> "> <?php the_author();?></a>
    <?php } else { the_author_posts_link(); } ?>

    This is exactly what you have above the posts 🙂

    Thank you again.

    I see better now how it works, but I think I prefer the former mod because, even without the link in the author’s posting handle, I was able to make it much larger as opposed to smaller without the link.

    Fact is though, you have helped me greatly, both in grasping a slightly better understanding of how this all works, and also in the overall appearance of my blog.
