• I’m sure this will sound like an odd request but is it possible to dynamically set whether the desktop or mobile filters are used?

I’m using Plugin Organizer in conjunction with Mobile Smart Pro for theme switching and would like to allow users to view the desktop version of a site on a mobile device.

While I am able to switch in to the desktop theme on a mobile device, the filters associated mobile devices prevent some plugins from loading.

Is there a way to set the filter device type for situations like this?

  • Hi @mrickan,

There is some troubleshooting I would try first, if you haven’t already (let me know).

It may be the device you are using is not on the mobile list of devices for Plugin Organizer?

Did you check there, in the general settings “Mobile User Agents”?

If your device is not listed, then try listing it, saving it and visiting your site again as you did via mobile and do your desktop view test.

If the problem still persists, then next, I would see if Plugin Organizer’s mobile settings are working correctly by disabling Mobile Smart Pro and visiting your website with your mobile device and see if the plugins are loading as you would have them for mobile devices.

If the problem still persists, then next, I would have Mobile Smart Pro on and visit your site with your mobile device and see if the plugins are loading as you would have them for mobile devices.

If the problem still persists, then next, I would go into Plugin Organizer’s “Plugin Load Order”. There I would make sure that Plugin Organizer is set to load before Mobile Smart Pro. Then visit your site again and see if you get the results you want.

It could be that during mobile browsing, Mobile Smart Pro is loading before Plugin Organizer, so Mobile Smart Pro is not respecting Plugin Organizer’s settings.

If the problem still persists, then it sounds like when a user clicks to view the desktop version Mobile Smart is forcing a desktop version to load as a desktop device is visiting your website. Instead of your desktop version loading for a mobile device. That is a little confusing, but does that make sense?

At the moment there is no way within plugin organizer to do fix this issue with what you are requesting.

This is an unique request as I don’t think it has ever been requested before.

But perhaps, others or Jeff, @foomagoo will chip in.

Let me know your results from the troubleshooting when you finish.

Thanks for using Plugin Organizer and asking for help!

    Thanks for the suggestions Noah.

In this scenario however, isn’t Plugin Organizer operating as expected? It basically is identifying and applying the filters based on the device, with the theme itself being irrelevant.

I imagine the solution would be to specify the device or filter type explicitly, overriding the detected values.

There is no value to set that will force the mobile or regular set of plugins. You would need to change the MU plugin to accomplish what you want.
