If you have been experiencing this problem after upgrading to WordPress 4.7.1 then it appears to be a conflict of the plugin with the new files of WordPress 4.7.1
I have tried disabling all plugins except Contact Form 7 but the problem remains the same, so i can assure you that it is not a conflict with some other plugin
Respectfully Takayuki Miyoshi, this response in not correct. The recent update of WordPress 4.7.1 is the issue. Please look into what was done that caused your code to not work. You have many people that appreciate what you have done and really need a solution fast.
Totally agree with jmergener. I think it is a conflict of Contact Form 7 code with the updated WordPress 4.7.1
I have great respect for Takayuki Miyoshi and I am sure he will provide a solution soon. I have been using Contact Forms 7 for most of my websites, which number over 25. But right now my forms are suffering and clients say they are not getting any mails.
Hope this problem is fixed asap.
Same thing started happening on my site after the upgrade.
I’m also using Flamingo plugin http://contactform7.com/save-submitted-messages-with-flamingo/
If I disable Flamingo plugin, then it will work fine. But before update if worked with Flamingo as well.
Same issue here for me, I get the spinning arrows but interestingly the email is delivered. Also using 4.7.1 and obvously disabling all plugins and using the default theme is not going to be an option for many of us.
Without a fix im going to have to opt for a different form plugin which I was really hoping to avoid
