Formatting stripped

I have a number of sources (from the same WP installation in a multi-site set-up) pulling, with the ‘Permalinks point to: The local copy on this website’ setting chosen.

On the ‘local copy’ of the post, the paragraph breaks are stripped.

Note that when I view the post in Edit mode (Visual mode) the paragraph breaks are retained.

If I manually wrap the paragraphs with <p>…</p> in HTML mode, the issue is solved. (This obviously isn’t something I want to do for every new post that is pulled in by the syndication manager…)

Thoughts on how this can be rectified?
