forward dating

    I’ve looked everywhere but can’t find the answer, so apologies if I am reapeating anything.

    I tried making a forward-dated post. It was forward dated by a day. All went well. But when we got to the date and time I had specified, the dratted post would not show up on my blog. In the end I had to cut and paste it into a new post and delete the other one. The forward-dated post showed up on my list of published posts, in my dashboard thing. But not on the blog.

    Any advice on how to forward date a post without having to cut and paste the whole thing? Many thanks.

    By forward dating the post, you’re publishing to the future. So if you set the date to be the 27th of September 2006, and today was the 20th, the post wouldn’t show up until the 27th. It’s actually a feature of wordpress that allows you to schedule posts if you’re going to be away but still want to post regularly.

    I don’t think there is a way of making WP display future-dated posts without editing the source code. It’s an idea for a plugin though!

    This may have been due to a lack of activity on your blog. To keep overhead down (and for a slew of other reasons) WP doesn’t keep time, so time-sensitive ‘issues’ don’t get addressed until WP is ‘cycled’ (sorry, used to be a motorcycle mechanic ;’) as in the_post or the-content is actually performed, then the no-longer-future post is ‘seen’.

    wp-cache (and browser cache) could delay this as well…

    Ah, thanks guys. Thing is, even when the world (or this part of it) got the date and time of hte forwarded post, it still refused to show up. It was published, it wasn’t still a draft, but it just was not there, no matter how often I cleared the cache and rebooted etc. Ah well. I know for next time, thanks.
