That’s correct, this is how our plugin works by design.
There’s currently an option, if you want to create subscription on trial period, just use define( “MS_PAYPAL_TRIAL_SUBSCRIPTION”, true ); in wp-config.php file. Please note, it will work only if you use Paypal.
Finally, it’s been requested already to us to change the workflow, so member should insert his/her payment details upfront and getting billed automatically when trial periods ends. This is in the tasks list of our developers and will be added in a future release, I really can’t provide any estimated time for this though. Keep an eye for updates and changelog should provide that information. 😉

i see this is requested from 2015 by users on wpmu forum.i enabled this option as you said but after clicking subscription it goes to thank you page ..doesn’t goes to PayPal.

As Dimitris mentioned in the above reply, the members will be asked to add their billing information only after trial subscriptions ends.
The feature that will request payment details upfront, is added to the development list and will be released in the future.
