One of my most-used plugins
-
BackupGuard is usually the first plugin I add on new sites. I’ve been using it for years, and it is the easiest, most dependable plugin. I started using it to migrate/sync live sites to local development sites, but now also to schedule regular backups.
What is particularly great about it, is that there is no need to manually specify any translations, like the site URL. It handles all of that automatically.
It also allows for customization of which files/folders, and database tables to include. For example, I’ve been able to reduce the size of incremental backups significantly by filtering out older upload years, which no longer change.
And on the rare occasions when something doesn’t work, I’m usually able to be successful on a retry, but they also have really good and responsive technical support.
