Free versus pro version question

    I just installed the free version to see if it will do what I want it to.

    Is it only the pro version that offers categories? Not that it really matters to me, but it might be nice to have things displayed categorically.

    I also want to do a timeline for each month of the year. Rather than have an enormous timeline, I want to split it into months.

    Does only the pro version allow that? Meaning they have to be separate timelines, right? If I want it split into individual months?

    Am I understanding that the pro version allows viewing of all other timelines I might have on my site, too? So in other words, I’d have 12 timelines for each year? Rather than one very long timeline?

    Hope I’m making sense. I just want to be sure before buying the pro version that I’m understanding things.

    Hi Snoel,

    That’s correct. The pro version enables categories on your announcements as well as the ability to define multiple categories so you can display a timeline for each year. You should have no problem limiting the announcements on a given timeline to a specified year, using the pro version.

    Such a quick response. Thank you.
    But I want timeline for each month. Not necessarily each year. Same difference?
    I can go into detail on how I want to use it if it helps clarify.

    Hi snoel,

    Same difference. Essentially what you would want to do is create a ‘category’ for each month, or year, however you want it split. When displaying the timeline on your site, there is a shortcode generator which allows you to specify which category (if any or all) you want to aassociate with that timeline.

    So for example,

    [timeline-express category="2"]

    Would display announcements that were assigned to category 2 (which could be all announcements for the month of May, for example). Ideally you would set up 12 categories, 1 for each month – and then assign your announcements to those respective categories.
