My previous thread was closed before I could reply.

The Google account we use is set as “[email protected]”. The First Name and Last Name are set properly. e.g. John Smith

In the Post SMTP plugin settings, the name is also set properly. e.g. John Smith

However, when we test the email, it shows the sender From Name simply as “web”.

Any advice on how to change the From Name? I know mail servers are cracking down on spoofing or changing names/emails, so I want to see if there’s a way to do this properly without a hack/workaround that might get rejected.

To answer your questions from the previouis thread:
`Are you using G Suite on a custom domain?’
    Yes.

‘Are you seeing the sender’s name as “web” regardless of whether the recipient is internal or external?’
    Yes.

‘Are you using the Google API to send?’
    Yes.

    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Hi Mike,

    Sorry about that.

That’s very strange. When sending mail via the Google API, the Google SMTP server will set the name as per how you’ve set it in G Suite Admin. I presume if you send mail from the account, say on mail.google.com (webmail), that the sender name is correct?

So long as mail is sending from Post SMTP, then we can assume the API is correctly connected.

I would talk to Google Support and see what advice they can give.

    Kind Regards,
    Tim
