• I have a sub domain set up (not through WordPress multisite) and would like to have it set up so that you cannot view and of the sub domain pages unless logged in first. The only plug-ins I have found give assess to the WordPress dashboard (dont want this). I want it to look just like it does when viewing as a normal website when logged in but is restricted to set users that I add (so no ability to auto register). Something similar to a company intranet/extranet for example.

I can password protect the sub domain through cpanel and this is basically what I need to achieve because it gives me the ability to control who has access but I would prefer if there was a custom login page that then redirects to the home page of the sub domain. Any attempts to access a page on the sub domain website would redirect to login page if not currently logged in.

Can anyone suggest how this might be possible?

You can use a plugin that will remove dashboard access for non-admin users, like this one. (Or, if you are comfortable with the functions.php file, look for a tutorial on doing that.)

After that, you can use a maintenance mode/coming soon plugin that allows you to block an entire site to non-logged in users.
