• Hi Guys,

Been having major problems lately. I think my mistake was moving my wordpress install into a subdirectory instead of copying and pasting it as I later read. It is currently back in the root but still having problems.

    1. My first problem I noticed was that when I tried to log out of wordpress it took me to a page saying that it didnt exist.

    2. I went to add a new page and somehow in the process wordpress decided to make that page my front page. I checked all the forums about changing my setting, and about static posts and everything, and this is something much deeper.

    3. When I returned my install back to the root from the subdirectory I could no longer log in. I reset my password and it worked for awhile, but then it timed out, and I could no longer log in again. (Without getting another reset).

Major problems and I could use all the help I can get.

    Using WordPress 3.0.1
    Theme Atahualpa 3.4.9

    Thanks,
    Jeremy

Here is what my web host tells me. I knew they probably couldn’t help me. Anyone, know a web host that can actually help with WordPress?

    Hello Jeremy,

I have checked and it appears that the issue with the wordpress application. Hence, the website http://www.insightwriter.com/ is redirecting to the URL http://www.insightwriter.com/privacy-policy-2/ . Please contact your application vendor to resolve the issue.

If you have any further questions, please update the Support Console.

Try manually resetting your plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the Default theme (WordPress 1.5 – 2.9.2) or the Twenty Ten theme (WordPress 3.0 and higher) to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue.

Manually resetting my plugins worked to restore my front page and I am seeing posts again. Yet to find out which one it was because I still can not log in. I am currently stuck in a user that only has Editor privileges. Have to wait till it times out…. Will get back to you.

The webpage at http://www.insightwriter.com/wp-login.php?action=logout&_wpnonce=83c8aa01dd might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

This is what I get when I try to log out.

That’s odd. Try clearing all cookies related to the domain from your browser.

I cleared my browser and it didn’t work. I normally use Chrome. Tried Firefox and same thing. Im gonna have to try it on someone elses computer here soon. Any other ideas?

With the cookies reset, you should still be able to login as a different user with admin capabilities. Does that not work?

    (@jeremymday)

Oh yes, I can log in for both users. Right now everything is more or less fixed, but I cant log out still. It still gives me the message above that the site might be temporarily down.

Its more of an annoyance then anything, and I dont like that I have to wait for my site to time out but not sure what else to do…

maybe Im missing wp-login.php Where does that belong?

No, that file is in the right place:

    http://www.insightwriter.com/wp-login.php

Try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.
