Hello, My users can submit blog posts from the frontend using an Advanced Custom Fields form that my developer created for our platform. Currently the blog content field has an “Add Media” tab. Would my users be able to use the existing “Add Media” tab to embed content?

My site is an online community platform. We have activity feeds. My users often copy their YouTube video URLs and paste them into the activity feed. The videos play on our platform without existing to YouTube.

None of my users have access to the backend of my site except the Site Admin. This means that they do not have access to my Elementor page builder. So, it’s important for them to be able to paste a URL into a feed or a blog post.

Your product seems like the best solution. But I have over 100 users who could potentially want to embed content such as video, livestreams, documents, etc. It is beneficial that the data is not being stored on our site. We also don’t want our users to exit out to the platforms to see the content.

I appreciate your time and assistance. If your product is not a good fit, can you please suggest one that might work for us. Many of my users are NOT tech savvy and embed codes are a true mystery.

    Thanks, Dianne Blake

    Hi @nonuniverse,

I hope you’re doing well. I have reviewed your query.

Yes, your users can indeed embed their YouTube videos or documents using either the “Add Media” field or the post content field. Utilizing the “Add Media” field might require a bit of a learning curve, but there are resources available to guide them through it, such as this helpful video tutorial: https://d.pr/v/9GsWR4

For embedding content like YouTube videos or documents, users can simply paste the URL directly into the post content field. Additionally, we have implemented a shortcode system for more complex embedding needs. For instance:

    • For YouTube videos, users can use the following shortcode format: [embedpress]youtube-video-link-here[/embedpress].
    • For PDF documents, the shortcode format is: [embedpress_pdf]pdf-file-link-here[/embedpress_pdf].
    • And for other types of documents, users can employ this shortcode format: [embedpress]other-docs-link-here[/embedpress].

This approach ensures that your users can seamlessly integrate various types of content into their posts or activity feeds without the need for technical expertise. It also offers the added benefit of not storing the content directly on our platform, while still providing a seamless viewing experience without redirecting users to external platforms.

I hope this clarifies how your users can easily embed content on our platform. Let us know you have any further questions or need assistance.

    Thank you!
