FTP Access Needed to Update Plugin?

    I got a notification to update the Blocksy Companion plugin, and when I click to update it, I get the following pop-up asking for access to my web server via FTP:

    I’ve never seen this before in any other plugin… Is it normal?

    Hello @nixxt33

    This would be a server configuration issue, not a theme one. You most likely haven’t configured WordPress to use FS_METHOD=direct, and the FTP pop-up would appear whenever you try to install something.

    I can assure you that we do not have any code in our theme/plugin that could cause this, as this is not permitted for software published on the WordPress store. We are not allowed to modify the update system.

    Perhaps you could check if FS_METHOD is set to direct and if not, set it that way? That should solve the issue for you.
