try again …. it’s just the server wierding out 🙂
Here’s how I CHMOD…
1) Use WS_FTP LE (type it in on Google, download it for free)
2) Enter in your ftp server details, pretty self-explanatory
3) Once connected, browse to the directory containing the folder or file that you want to modify the permissions
4) Left click the file/folder, then right click and choose “chmod”
5) Tick the appropriate box, hit OK.
Done.
I am feeling pretty stupid… I cannot do this.
I use Dreamweaver to ftp or I use the CPanel X at my host and Safari browser. There is no explaination about CHMOD in WP 1.5 in the Miscellaneous page.
I cannot seem to make the wp-content folder writeable. AAARRRRRGGGGGHHHH!!
vikia, if you follow tomphillips advice above, you should be able to make it work …
Even in CPanel you can do it. Go > File Manager > Select the file by clicking on it. In the right upper corner it will appear the file name and under it a several options. Click: Change Permission and in the table that appears click all the Write boxes.
Thanks so much – solved!
Was able to upload an image. Placed the code into a test post to see how it works, image is not showing. I will look through posts here and see if anyone has had this problem.
